"Blast From the Past"

Every week I am also going to do a funny memory from the past. This weeks was Katie's suggestion. (She's one of the 2 blonde girls that you will see pop up in about 75% of the pictures to the left!) A pretty fair amount of my memories-good, bad, fun, sad, wonderful- they include Katie in some way. Weve been friends for years and have more funny stories than I can even count. Todays memory is from one of the hundreds of times we went to the beach.

Katie and I used to go to the beach all the time and we always went in her 1990 convertible tan Chrysler Lebaron. (This was in 2001/2002 btw..) Cause you know, we were the shit in that car. 2 girls, in bikini's driving down the beach, wind in our hair...Oh yes. HOT.
Until one time we got stuck in the sand. Not once. Not Twice. Three times. We looked liked morons. Suddenly our sex appeal wasnt that great anymore.
The first time we got stuck, we were horrified. Thankfully, we were still "young and cute" enough for several guys to want to help us. So there we are, digging holes in the sand, trying desperately to get the car unstuck. We get it out the first time. We were embarrased, but at least we were out! We got to play the "Oh thank you so much said-the-cute-girls-batting-eyelashes card.
We drive all of maybe 200 feet and bam. Stuck again. Same guys come strutting down looking at us with a little less enthusiam this time, and they help us again. This time none of them flirted. None of them had the eagerness to help that they did the first time. And I knew, we better not get stuck again.
So we decide maybe its time to just get out of here. Katie tries to turn the car around. Big. Mistake. We get stuck again. This time, nobody is there to help us. All those strong helpful men are nowhere in sight. We dont know what to do. We look around and see that there is some sort of ranger station across the street from the beach so we decide that would be our best bet.
So we hobble along, and its actually much further away than it looked from the beach. Brilliant Heather decided not to wear shoes for that walk. That was fun. Concrete, with pebbles, cutting the bottom of my feet. Idiot.
We find this guy, and explain the situation and he walks all the way down to the beach with us. In full "ranger" uniform. In Florida. During summer. Where it can feel as hot as somewhere around the surface temperature of the sun.
Anyways, he eventually gets us out, and we tucked our tails between our legs and left the beach for the day.
I think that was our LAST time driving that car on the sand at the beach...

I think next weeks story might be the "suck it up, were going to a party" story. One of many "Heather got sick but theres a party!" kind of stories!
